Here is a couple pics of the new brackets with the correct SD7 compressor and the belt installed. I was WAY off on my initial belt length, I started at 106" and ended up at 100 5/8" (100.625").

Rob (Hart_Rod) came over today and we got quite a bit done. The evaporator is fit and the vents are installed. I just need to finish the mount for the controls, fit the hoses and then do some detail work before doing the final install. Thanks for the help Rob, it always good working with you!

What did you all have to order to make the Holley brackets work on your motor? I just started reading on the issue of trying to get a vintage air to work with a 5.3 and like what the Holley kit seems to offer. Im a long ways off from being at this point but just trying to gather all the info I can.

Holley did a great job engineering these brackets, only real sticking points are the power steering hose (luckily Hart_Rod is figuring that out) and figuring out the belt length.

My understanding is that the Vintage Air kits don't work well with the factory LS compressors. So to avoid any long term issues I went with the holley brackets to support an after market compressor. I ordered the 20-132 bracket kit $269.95, the 21-3 spacer kit (for a truck engine) $94.95, and the Vintage Air sure fit kit from Summit. I upgraded the compressor to an SD7 and the controls to a 3 knob streamline unit. With the upgrades the Vintage Air kit jumped to $1600. It can be done much cheaper, I just wanted mine to look and work a certain way. If you have any specific questions let me know and I'll try to answer them.

Thanks for the info Buck, you wanted it to look a certain way and its turning out great, making a nice truck even better.

I did have a couple more questions after reading over the fitment guide that you probably have sorted out already. Did you have to change your power steering pump or were you able to make the truck one work? And are you running the compressor rpm cut off deal they have in their guide?

Lokar did a great job on these pedals, but there are a few tricks to the installation. If/when you take the plunge let me know and I'll share my experience.

You do have to change the p/s pump to a '97 corvette unit, about $90 from your local parts store including the core (i didn't have one to turn in). The other p/s issue is the pressure line. The fitting is very close to the pulley requiring the use of a factory fitting versus the an style I used with the truck pump. Hart_Rod had a hose built using a hose end removed from a new '97 Corvette hose and it turned out great. I am sure he has posted a pic in his build thread, but if not I will post one as soon as mine is done. With regard for the RPM switch, I swapped to the SD7 compressor because it can handle higher RPM, more than the 5500 max rpm my engine will see so switch for me.

I figured the compressor would be fine since its rated to 9300 rpms and it looks pretty close to a one to one ratio on the pulleys.

That's awesome! If you get one that's running do yourself a favor and keep it running while you collect up the parts to do the swap, taking it down for too long can lead to bailing on the project. Take it slow and do your research, having a plan and sticking to it is the most important thing. Although, as you can see I'm not very good at sticking to a plan!

yeah haha my brother has a 66 mustang and did a ls1 swap, but he just took it apart and couldn't drive it to Highschool at all, but it least it will be cool in the end.

Worked on my old truck a little today. A/C lines are cut and ready to be crimped and the control panel is mounted. Hope to have this project complete by the end of next weekend I miss riding her around...

That's great! I hope you get it done. The wife and I took our 71 out today. Even in this nasty humidity without A/C it's still fun to drive around.
