Re: "Brass Monkey".....Installing 4/6" ECE Drop Kit

Super nice looking truck! I'll be doing a 2.5/4" ECE drop on mine, with similar size wheels and tires. It'll be interesting to compare their stance when they're done.

Re: "Brass Monkey".....Installing 4/6" ECE Drop Kit

BEAUTIFUL TRUCK! I plan to do the same drop kit on my truck in the future as well.

Looking forward to seeing the final results on yours, good luck.

Re: "Brass Monkey".....Installing 4/6" ECE Drop Kit

I'm not sure about the springs, I didn't think it would matter but I'm an amateur. I have the evil competitor's springs to install, but can't see a difference in direction. Mine are marked CPP on the lower coil tho so I plan to install with the letters right-side-up.

Hopefully someone will chime in to confirm so you can keep moving forward....

It doesn't matter about the springs. Just put them both the same way.

Thanks.

I am painting the retainers today at work and getting new bolts. Hopefully get them in tonight.

Now if my back ordered lower spring mounts would show up then I can finish up the rear.

I can't remember who, but someone makes some billet spring retainers for our trucks that were pretty cool.

EDIT: Found them, http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ring+retainers

Great thread and good pics - thanks for sharing your process. Wow - originally an olive interior - can't imagine, but proves the original buyer could get whatever they wanted in those days. Very cool. Truck looks gorgeous! Can't wait to see the final pics and I'm not even a big drop fan(!) Know it's gonna look awesome - this is a beautiful truck.

Should i keep the rally wheels with a smaller tire?
Or go to a 20" TT2 wheel?

Re: "Brass Monkey".....Installing 4/6" ECE Drop Kit

I only have1/4"-1/2" clearance on the front tires. Defiantly have to get a smaller tire, which also should gain anther 1"+ of drop.

The truck looks very good with the drop! No C notch on the frame was necessary?

I have not drove it yet to see. The front tires are way to close to inner fenders to drive and the exhaust is hitting the rear end. Got to get smaller tires and re-route some pipes.

The rear end is 2.25" from the frame rail. It is close but i will see how it works out before I do a C-notch.

Re: "Brass Monkey".....Installing 4/6" ECE Drop Kit

Truck looks awesome.

My leaf spring truck with a flip came down 7". I removed the factory bump stops as well as the steel pad that is on a leaf axle. (Never owned a coil truck other than a c20 Sub so not sure what they look like.) I put the DJM urethane bumps on the frame above the axle. They hit occasionally but not often enough to c-notch it.

On your fronts, I'd look at a wheel with a different width/offset in addition to a narrower tire maybe? I have 27" tall tire on the front of mine (235 55 17) and with about 500 miles under my belt I have zero tire rubbing anywhere front or rear. And rears are 29" tall (275 55 17).

Taller tires are one of the things IMO that really help the look and stance of these trucks lowered.

Re: "Brass Monkey".....Installing 4/6" ECE Drop Kit

ECE recommended using a 245/60/15 on the front and a 275/60/15 on the rear. The wheels are 15x8.

Any thoughts on this?

It currently has 255/70/15 all around
